The next song of the week on repeat is from 2 weeks ago and has since dwindled on my playlist. The first time I heard the song in Texas on week one, I hated it. Then like 5 minutes later, another song came on the radio and I still found myself singing this one. I googled it from my phone and played it a few more times. After getting it for the iPod, it gradually moved up my personal Billboard Top Hits list.
Now, before you go listen to this song, realize it's absolutely nothing like the last. I like that about my music taste; it's eclectic. I'm also going to preface this with the fact that I don't condone excessive drinking, intentionally getting women drunk, or exchanging sex for money. Your probably thinking, what the heck is this song she's listening to?! Some of you have heard my speech on listening to music with a good message. Hard to do in today's society, but I try. I'd be listening to Bach and Mozart 24/7 if I stuck to this all the time. But I believe that listening to and singing along to songs with bad messages only supports the music industry and encourages people to make more songs with similar content. I'm very headstrong on this, you should know this about me! "Blame it on the Alcohol" will never ever EVER be played in my car, or anywhere where I am near a radio control. I've never actually heard the whole thing because it disgusts me. I've actually shut off a few people's radios because I refuse to listen to it. This usually upsets people, but, hey, I've got morals and I know how to stick to them. There's no reason to blame any actions on alcohol. You, yourself, are the person putting the alcohol in your mouth. Want to be drunk and do stupid things? God bless you but go for it. Just be willing to take the responsibility for anything you do from the first sip. Another one that's usually banned but sometimes sneaks it's way in is Eminiem and Rhianna's newer song, "Love the Way You Lie". Listening to the worlds, you'll hear at the end he threatens: "If she ever tries to f-ing leave again, I'mma tie her to the bed, And set the house on fire." Sounds like domestic violence if you ask me. Not okay. Not one bit. And Chris Brown beat the crap out of Rhianna not long ago. For some reason, she went back to him, but we shouldn't be blaming her. He's the one who hit her anyways. Isn't it a bit earlier for her to be making songs about being abused and tolerating it?
Now that you've heard my irate thoughts on the music industry, last week's song of the week on repeat was "Bottoms Up" by Trey Songz and Niki Minaj. I don't particularly care for Minaj's part in the song. It would be fine without her. But it's growing on me. Except where she asks Trey to buy her a bottle of Rose wine. She sounds like a 10 year old, or a highly intoxicated person with a desperate alcohol problem and it makes me cringe. At least she's legally of age - but why can't she buy it herself? You can get some rose for a decent price. You're a famous rapper after all.... In the end, the song is catchy, has a good beat, and makes me dance in my car seat.
