Feels Like Home

I can pretty much feel myself falling in love with North Carolina. It's incredible so far and reminds me more of home than any other state I've been to, including New Jersey which is much closer to home. The trees are similar here, no palm trees this far inland. Lots of pine, the brown needles line the edges of every road. The leaves aren't changing colors, but it's a very comfortable 59 degrees right now. Perfect for a hoodie and some flip flops! If only I had a hoodie with me! I certainly wasn't expecting it to be so chilly. Everywhere I go here the air smells like cedar. I think it's cedar at least. It's a fresh woodsy smell that you would probably only smell deep in the woods of New England. But here, it seems the air near the airport, near the mall, on the back roads all smells so incredibly fresh. It's a nice change. Florida did not smell like this.

I definitely see why people move here. I could envision myself living in a place like this. I'm by no means in the backwoods, as the mall and international airport are less than 5 minutes away, but everything is just so pretty. There's not a lot of street lights, the roads are windey and hilly. It makes me want to listen to country music. I think the town I am in must have some sort of ordinance for businesses - everything matches and most have a rustic look. Think Smoky Bones outside decor on every building. It's weird to see Wendy's and McDonald's with green roofs to match nature. Just doesn't look like a McDonalds without the big golden arches outside!

Everyone I've met has been really nice, with a cute little accent to top it off. Sweetie and Miss/Ma'am, and Have a blessed day. It's just so cheery to hear people talk! I googled it and some people living here call it "Cary-dise," how cute. The photo to my right isn't mine. I don't really know where it is, but it's a snapshot of Cary.

Traveling so much and getting to see different parts of the country has really given me a chance to fully appreciate life in my own state. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving all this travel and getting to see different places, but when comparing the pros and cons, it really makes me value what I have at home. I think that's why I like Cary so much, it's the closest things to home. I like consistency. Then again, I'm also the one who goes to hair salon and asks for a new cut/color, but then picks something out of magazine that's exactly the cut/color I already have!

Can't wait to get out and explore more this week!
